About Alejandro Hidalgo

I came to therapy through a longer path than a straight line.

Before training as a therapist, I spent years around technical, business, and creative work. That earlier chapter still shapes how I listen. I know something about high-functioning pressure, problem-solving as a defense, and the strange loneliness that can come from building a life that works on paper while important parts of the self are still waiting for attention.

Why therapy

The work that draws me most is relational. I am interested in what happens between people, what gets inherited in families, what grief reorganizes, and how people learn to speak more truthfully when the old strategies stop working.

My training is in marriage and family therapy, which means I tend to think systemically. A person is never only an isolated set of symptoms. We are shaped by families, partners, friendships, culture, work, communities, histories, and bodies. Therapy can become a place to look at those layers without rushing to make a person smaller than their life.

Clinical interests

My emerging clinical interests include men's work, grief, relationship strain, premarital, marital, and family therapy, discernment-oriented relationship conversations, adolescent and teen support, identity and direction questions, and the ways people protect themselves from pain until those protections begin to cost too much.

I am especially interested in men who have learned how to function, perform, provide, analyze, or withdraw, but who are less sure how to feel, ask, repair, grieve, or stay present in closeness.

I am also drawn to work with couples and families around communication, transition, conflict, and the patterns that shape closeness over time. That includes premarital and marital therapy, family therapy, and work with adolescents or teens in the wider context of family life.

Current training context

I am currently in supervised clinical training through Connection Therapy Center. Public wording about title, supervision, and future availability will be updated carefully as my training and credential path changes.
